PR has changed. The way I ran PR campaigns five years ago seems so prehistoric. The new marketing muscle is in the internet and doing things digitally. Well, time out for feeling like you’re “left behind” – me and New York PR Expert, Karen Taylor Bass have designed an event for you that will get you into shape –The PR Boot Camp!
Meredith Duling's PR Experience Detailed.

Daisy!) and how to nab a deal with Target. Not necessarily in that order.

PR has been a part of the business world for as long as their been news to report. In today's media heavy world, PR still has a spot, but are PR professionals adapting or becoming irrelevant. Heather Bachman is a former White House intern and campaign manager, with a background in journalism. Heather shares her expertise on Communication Administration, Event Management, Media Relations and Assistance, Brand Recognition Assistance, and Crisis Management.
Katie Harvey of KGB Texas began her agency at the age of 24 with just herself and $2,000. In 15 years she has grown the full-service public relations and advertising firm into a debt-free, multi-million dollar company; it is one of the largest, woman-owned strategic communication agencies in Texas with close to 40 employees. In 2005, the agency expanded its presence in Texas by opening an office in Houston. In 2008, the agency expanded its services to include both digital marketing and social media teams. KGBTexas offers communications counsel in brand development, crisis communications and public affairs and the agency’s client list includes more than 40 local, regional and national accounts spanning retail, government affairs, healthcare, construction, financial and manufacturing industries. Some clients include Administaff, International Bancshares Corporation, JW Marriott and McDonald’s. Before launching KGBTexas, Katie managed national PR efforts and generated multi-million dollar media campaigns for Kaepa Athletic Shoes, was the director of PR and marketing for Aztex Foods, Inc., a restaurant franchise in San Antonio and served as executive administrator for NFL Hall of Famer Earl Campbell. Katie graduated from Southwest Texas State University (now known as Texas State). She serves on the board of the Texas Business Hall of Fame and is a member of their executive committee. She has earned numerous business leadership and entrepreneurial awards and the agency has received accolades for PR and advertising campaigns. The San Antonio Business Journal has ranked KGBTexas number one on its list of largest PR firms since 2004 and also named it one of the “Best Places to Work” in 2007 and 2008. www.kgbtexas.com

It's not unusual for communicators to feel stifled by corporate attorneys whose counsel, often viewed as contrary to the organization's reputational interests, is rubber-stamped by CEOs. Neville and Shel will look at perceptions of lawyers by communicators, explore ways legal and communications can work together, and discuss whether attorneys' judgments are always best for the company. Our special guests include Helio Fred Garcia, president and founder of the crisis management firm LOGOS Consulting Group, and executive director of the LOGOS INSTITUTE for Crisis Management & Executive Leadership; and law academic and commentator Mike Semple Piggot, aka CharonQC, the man behind Charon QC The Blawg and Insite Law Magazine podcasts. Also joining us is Jim Golden, Chattanooga, Tennessee-based attorney specializing in negotiation of early reasonable settlements in complex accident and commercial disputes, avoiding or shortening litigation and significantly reducing client costs. Adapting theory learned at the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School to the practical needs of firm clients, he provides leadership in an area of legal practice he describes as “negotiation counsel.” Golden, who has represented the trucking industry, among others, has views about what companies can and could say that run counter to what you hear from most corporate counsel.. Please join us with your questions, observations, and stories.
Top performing leaders almost invariably have a formal or informal group of advisors and mentors, a sort of Personal Board of Directors, with whom they share their problems and from whom they seek advice and counsel. How can you create or improve your Personal Board of Directors? What should you be looking for from such a group, and how do you maintain it? Our first guest is Jack Bergstrand, CEO of Brand Velocity and author of Reinvent Your Enterprise, endorsed by The Drucker Institute. Our second guest, Richard Levick, Esq. is the President and CEO of Levick Strategic Communications, the largest crisis communications firm in the world, and author of three books including "STOP THE PRESSES: The Crisis and Litigation PR Desk Reference". He is a frequent contributor to BulletproofBlog.com—the nation’s top crisis communications blog and his fourth book will be titled "Profit of Courage".
In his first book for adults, the NAACP award-winning, New York Times Bestselling Hill Harper sparks honest dialogues about the crisis in African American relationships. Only 34% of African-American children today are raised in two-parent households. That is down from 1966, when 85% of black children were raised by two parents. Harper brings a variety of issues out of the shadows in THE CONVERSATION: How Black Men and Women Can Build Trusting Relationships (Gotham Books, September 8, 2009; $20.00) see www.theconversationonline.com
Tonight we have the opportunity to chat with Dallas PR pro, Narciso, who can be fount on Twitter @narciso17. He'll be joining us as we delve further into the world of how PR has changed and his humorous approach to the topic, and as a professional in PR himself, will shed some light on what he thinks of the industry as a whole. Join us for what is sure to be a fun time for all.

Our guest this week is Peter Himler, founder and principal of Flatiron Communications LLC, a PR/media consulting firm in New York. Himler most recently served as Chief Media Officer for Edelman Worldwide, following 11 years with Burson-Marsteller as head of the agency's U.S. corporate and strategic media team and its worldwide spokesperson. Prior to B-M, Peter was media director for six years at Cohn & Wolfe, which followed five years at Hill and Knowlton where he led H&K's broadcast and consumer media relations group. He began his career with three years at the NYC entertainment PR firm of Robert Zarem Inc. In 2005, PR News named Peter its "PR Professional/Media Relations Executive of the Year." That same year, PR Week awarded the PR program he led to build the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. as its "Public Sector Campaign of the Year." Peter's blog, "The Flack" recently was awarded a "2006 PR News Platinum Award" as the year's best blog.
Paula Lucas doesn't wear a cape, but to thousands of American women and children being abused around the world, Paula may be their super-hero. For 14 years Paula lived what looked like an ideal life as an American overseas: A Newsweek photojournalist husband, world wide travel, a successful advertising, marketing and PR business and three beautiful sons. She also hid a terrible secret: the children suffered severe child abuse and Paula, horrific domestic violence, at the hands of her husband, making every day a nightmare. While living in a shelter, Paula founded a non-profit organization and began her work. In April 2001, she launched an internationally toll free domestic violence and child abuse hotline, 866-USWOMEN. In 2009, Paula's growing team provided services to 273 Americans with 248 children in 64 countries, received 1424 crisis calls & emails, relocated 11 families fleeing domestic violence back to the USA, and provided an additional array of services including legal consultations, legal retainers, professional counseling and basic needs assistance to dozens more. While the organization has won numerous awards, the Pièce de résistance came in April 2010, when the US Department of Justice awarded the Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center with the National Crime Victim Service Award for extraordinary efforts in direct service to crime victims. Transportation Update We will have a quick update on transportation – So-called “conservatives” pushing to waste billions of tax dollars on Rail Transit projects. Yep. Congressman John Mica – FL-R did not get the message in November. He is trying to push through SunRail during the lamb duck session because he thinks we aren’t looking.======================================== The American Meltdown – The Crash of the American Monetary System Watch this video http://www.stansberryresearch.com/pro/1011PSIENDVD/LPSILC24/PR Glenn Beck is not alone in his prediction of the crisis facing America. American Statesman is suggesting to thoughtfully begin a plan to have access or on-hand supplies of basic food, medical and perhaps water. If a crisis hit, say access to fuel etc, one would have the means to tough it out for a short period of time. If you think about it for a moment, access to fuel to run our automobiles would limit travel etc. If history is any guide, it is possible we are witnessing the beginning of serious financial melt-down. Ask yourself if you are prepared. All of this is a private decision that will give you some peace of mind if things become acute socially. We will review some of the facts: According to the Wall Street Journal, the Stock Market has followed a path eerily similar to 1937, which led to the crash of 1938. - We are currently in the denial syndrome phase of financial crisis. - Perhaps the most significant economic change of the second-half of the twentieth century was instant prosperity in the form of credit. - The U.S. is now the world's largest debtor nation. - Closed meeting between Russia, China, France and Japan have reportedly taken place to discuss replacing U.S. dollar as the world's reserve currency. - With the U.S. Debt higher than out annual budget, we are basically broke. - Once the U.S. dollar is replaced by a new global currency, hyper-inflation will likely hit the U.S.
